29th July Burlesque protest march against Camden Council...
Over 100 burlesque dancers took to the streets of London yesterday in protest against the Camden Council burlesque ban.
The protest gathered outside Coco-de- Mer, Covent Garden, and marched onto Camden Town Hall.
Camden Council have been preventing any burlesque performances taking place in the borough which contain stripping or nudity as it classes it as adult entertainment and requires a license.
According to the Metro “A Camden Council spokeswoman said: "Camden Council is not preventing burlesque performances in any premises in the borough, it embraces the diverse entertainment on offer in Camden. Our concern is to ensure proper regulation of the premises proposing to offer burlesque. Our focus is on the premises not the burlesque performers. It is the responsibility of the venue's licence holder to ensure they have the correct permission for the event they are hosting."
The council said that any shows involving nudity or stripping would continue to be classed as adult entertainment but it would look at each application on an individual basis.”
The Londonpaper.com revels, “a campaign by the Burlesque Women’s Institute, has coincided with Camden council appearing to consider a retreat. The groups have already met, and a further meeting will take place in September

16th July 2009 Marilyn Monroe "wonderbra" to be auctioned
All burlesque dancers, pin ups and modern day Ultra Vixens aspire to mirror the fabulous curves of 1950s Hollywood Siren, Marilyn Monroe.
Her vital stats estimated to be 36, 23, 36 with one of her secrets being a fantastic version of a wonderbra.
Marilyn Monroe enhanced her 36D chest using an 1950s equivalent "wonderbra", experts said, according to the Metro.
This bra seems complex at first glance as it has a double cup, and a system of straps resembling a suspension bridge. The double cup actually was made up of four cups inside it. The inner cup was almost hidden, which would have supported her chest. The larger cup, about an inch further out, actually gave the impression of a larger chest for Marilyn Monroe.
This vintage bra is due to be auctioned with an estimated price of £2000. All lingerie designers will be itching to get their lacey fingers onto this treat....

Now in its third year, Washtock has been fundraising for special needs orphans in Sri Lanka. Over three days a great indoor festival of live music and Djs. This eclectic mix of music attracted a diverse crowd from Sheffield and further afield. All of the musicians, Djs and crew have given up their time and wages to work for free.
Peek-a-Boo Burlesque was invited to headline on the Saturday the 19th July. Vixens, Misty Lux and Scarlett Daggers gave time out of their busy schedule to perform at Washtock. Before this familiar, raven haired beauty, Dita Von Teese was the pin up we know today. Miss Von Teese was a peaches 'n cream blonde, as pictured in her yearbook of 1990.
Dita is now the new "face" or new "bustline", to a new range of vintage inspired lingerie at Wonderbra. So the next time you slip on one of the new Wonderbras you can "wonder" if Dita is wearing the same bra as you today!
