Vicky, what are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Vicky Butterfly (VB) - “Creative, curious and a collector!”

How long have you been performing?
VB - “I have been performing for 20 years, and performing shows that can be described as 'Burlesque' or Cabaret for about 5...”

Who inspires you as a performer the most and why?
VB - “At the moment definitely the terminally underrated Anita Berber (who I am hopefully producing a show based on this year). She was such an interesting character who was imitated by so many at the time (like Dietrich) but has now been largely forgotten... at the time what she did was seen solely as entertainment which was a source of despair for her. She was an incredibly innovative performance artist who was a victim of the political situation in inter-war Germany, but above all she lived life to the full!”

Is there a most embarrassing moment on stage?
VB - -“There have been some of course! A lady never tells. But you live and learn... I did set fire to my hat once.”

What has been the high point of your career so far?
VB - –“So many! Every performance should be a highlight. I suppose good reviews in the press, performing before hundreds of people, performing in fantastic venues such as Koko, sharing the stage with artists like Immodesty Blaize, being given the opportunity to perform the 'Victorian Values' stage show at the Hoxton Hall (one of the last remaining homes of Victorian Burlesque in the UK), music videos, the travelling... every week brings something new to celebrate!”

Which city are you performing in next?
VB - ” London for the next few, then off to Belfast and then Stockholm.”

Slippers or stilettos?
VB - “Neither: a nice 40s block heel, a spool-heeled Victorian boot or a patent Winkle picker!”

Your favourite item of clothing?
VB - “Oh, I don't know! A late Victorian dress maybe?”

What is your most commonly used phrase?
VB - “I was just wondering...”

Tell us your must have item you can’t leave the house without?
VB - “My keys for a start (I almost always forget)! A book and some music.”

Any advice you can give budding burlesque starlets?
VB - ” Just have fun! You never know where you'll be tomorrow, so just create something that you enjoy and find interesting!

There are so many different kinds of performance that I think it's impossible to give advice. It depends so much on the individual that I'd just say be yourself!”
