How long have you been performing?
DH - "I have been performing for 3 years"
Who inspires you as a performer the most and why?
DH -"Dirty Martini and Julie Atlas from the US. They have great attitude and style. They like to tell stories in their performances."
"From the UK I love Millie Dollar for her elegance and grace and Beatrix Von Bourbon for her imagination and passion."
Is there a most embarrassing moment on stage?
DH - "In one of my pieces called the Evolution of woman I remove a fake muff half way through the performance. Whilst performing in Liverpool, the performance went down really well, so I thought. I came back into the changing room and looked down and realized I had forgotten to remove the muff and it was hanging out the top of my bikini bottoms. The front row must have had some very funny ideas about my shaving habits which made me laugh."
What has been the high point of your career so far?
DH - "I am really pleased to have invented feather finger fans and introduced them to burlesque. The feather fans is an art form I love."
Which city are you performing in next?
DH - "London, performing at the Ruby Slipper, Afternoon Tease and The Burlesque Brunch….to name but a few"
Slippers or stilettos?
DH - "hmmm...Oh this is a hard one, I love them both I really can’t say. I normally have a pair of slippers in my bag after I wear my stilettos so I can get home. I have been seen walking home in from clubs in slippers."
Your favourite item of clothing?
DH - "I have owned a 1920’s dress jacket since I was 16,I love it. It makes you feel so elegant and I have never seen another since. I wear it on stage in my widow’s plight piece."
What is your most commonly used phrase?
DH - "I think I say "absolutely" far too much"….laughing
Tell us your must have item you can’t leave the house without?
DH - "My notebook, I love to write down ideas for new acts when I am traveling from gig to gig."
Any advice you can give budding burlesque starlets?
DH - "When you have an idea for an act, check online and ask other performers if they have seen anything similar. It can save you a lot of time and effort."
"Some more advice is to film your rehearsals and see how your act is developing from all angles it makes a huge difference to your act and really helps as a performer."
"On a final note, have fun and enjoy your performances, finally, always keep eye contact with your audience."
